**** Congratulations to the Rock Springs Storm U16 girl’s softball team on winning a state championship Sunday in Laramie. It is the second year in a row the team made up of 13- to 17-year-olds has won the championship. See a team photo here.

**** The Green River Knights American Legion baseball team finished second at Lovell’s A West Regional Tournament. The Knights, who lost to Cody in the title game, will move on to the A-State baseball tournament in Cheyenne as the West #2 seed. That tournament will start Saturday.

**** The size of the Shale Creek Fire burning on Indian Ridge in the Kemmerer District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest was listed at 90 acres as of 8 p.m. Sunday. The cause of the fire is still listed as unknown and is burning in downed heavy timber and sage inside the footprints of several past fires.

**** The “Muds and Suds” Family Run will occur this evening at Century Park in Rock Springs. There is no entry fee with registration beginning at 6 and the Muds and Suds race beginning at 6:30.

**** Today is the final day to drop off gently used or new clothing at the  American Legion in Rock Springs for their back-to-school giveaway, which will occur this Friday and Saturday. Clothing items and any school supplies can be dropped off until 6 p.m. today at the Archie Hay Post 24 on Broadway in Rock Springs.
