March 10, 2022 — Here is a recap of this morning’s Wyo4News stories.

**** Another cold day is in store for the area today. We will be sunny with a high of 15. Winds will be light at 5 to 20 mph. We will stay clear tonight and a little warmer with an overnight low of 1 below zero. Friday will be breezy but warmer with a high of 29, and we should see the upper 30s on Saturday and near 40 on Sunday.

**** Applications are now being accepted for the Sweetwater County Commissioners Scholarship. According to a press release, the Board of County Commissioners will select three Sweetwater County students to receive a $1,000.00 scholarship during their May 17 meeting. Applicants can use the money to attend the University of Wyoming or any Wyoming Community College. All forms and letters of recommendation must be received no later than April 29, 2022. **** The Rock Springs City Council will meet in a special session this evening concerning the continuing negotiations with the Fire Fighters Local 1499 and the City on a new collective bargaining agreement. That meeting is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. in the City Hall Downstairs Conference Room.

**** Today is the final day to submit entries for the 2022 Mayor’s Arts Awards. The awards recognize local artists, patrons of the art, art educators, and community art supporters. Nomination information can be found at downtownrs.com.

**** Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Green River Region office will be holding a series of public open houses starting March 21 to discuss proposed 2022 hunting seasons. Meetings will take place in Cokeville, Baggs, Mountain View, Evanston, and Kemmerer with the final meeting in Green River on March 29. Written comments may be submitted in person at the meetings or online. We have specific dates and times an online submission link here.

Sports

**** The 4A and 3A Wyoming State High School Basketball State Championship starts up today in Casper. In the 4A girls tournament, Green River plays Thunder Basin this morning with Rock Springs meeting Cheyenne East this evening. The Rock Springs boys take on Cheyenne East tonight in the 4A tournament.

The Mountain View girls play Douglas in the 3A tournament while the Lyman girls will meet Torrington this evening. In the 3A boys tournament, Lyman plays Rawlins late tonight.

**** Wyoming Cowboys will take home standing UNLV this afternoon in their opening-round game of the  Mountain West Conference Men’s Tournament. play on Thursday afternoon against UNLV. Broadcast time is 3 p.m. with tip-off at 3:30 on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KSIT.com.

Last night the UNLV women’s team defeated Colorado State in the women’s championship game.
