Local News:

**** A slight chance of rain showers this afternoon. Winds today will increase to 25 to 35 mph this afternoon but will calm tonight. High today at 53 with a low tonight of 31.  Tuesday will be partly sunny and a little warmer with a high of 59. We should be in the mid-60s by Wednesday and mid70s by Thursday. **** According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, to no one’s surprise, April’s weather in the local area was colder and drier than normal. The average daily daytime/nighttime temperature around Rock Springs was 39.7 degrees, about two degrees below normal. Last month was also the third driest April since records started being kept in 1948.

**** The Sweetwater County Historical Museum and the Sweetwater County Museum Foundation are sponsoring a Scholarship Program and Essay contest for 2021. The Scholarship Program is open to Sweetwater County high school seniors who will attend a college program in the summer or fall of 2021. The essay contest is open for students in grades 10 or 11 with a $100 grand prize. Details on both programs can be found here

**** The Sweetwater County Joint Travel & Tourism Board will be offering full-day tours of Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area beginning June 3 and running through August 19. Tickets for the full-day, guided bus tour of Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area are $49 and include lunch, snacks, and water. Private tours are also available for groups of 20 – 30 people. **** As of this morning, no new information has been released by the Rock Springs Polices concerning an early Saturday morning stabbing incident that took place at the Bareback Saloon in Rock Springs. A 39-year-male suffered a puncture wound to his side in the incident. A suspect in that stabbing has been identified.



**** Tuesday afternoon, Grant Street from College to Center Street is scheduled to be closed for a period of time due to ongoing road work. Normal traffic on Grant Street is expected to resume late Tuesday afternoon.


**** The Wyoming Cowboys Brown and Gold Spring Scrimmage game will take place this Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. with no admission charged. The game will bring the spring practice sessions to a close.
