**** Motorists in Rock Springs are reminded that Grant Street from College to Center Street will be closed to traffic later this afternoon for road work. Normal traffic on Grant Street is expected to resume late this afternoon.
**** Congratulations to Carly Putnam and Reese Fullmer for being named the Western Wyoming Community College Outstanding Graduates for 2020-21. The awards were given out late last week. Western’s 2021 Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 8 at 7 p.m. on campus in the Rushmore Gym. More information here.
**** Despite national media reports that people are skipping out on their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, health professionals are saying that is not an issue in Sweetwater County. According to the county’s Public Health Officer, Dr. Jean Stachon, “No show for second dose has not been a huge problem in Sweetwater County.” Public Health Director Kim Lionberger added that if people miss their second dose appointment, they will reach out and get it rescheduled. The Wyoming Department of Health reports over 172,000 first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been administered statewide.
*** Monday’s report from the Wyoming Department of Health showed 20 new COVID-19 cases in Sweetwater since last Friday afternoon’s report, 123 in the state. The county’s active case count was listed at 52 with four local hospitalizations. More information here.
**** Starting today, the Wyoming Highway Patrol will be participating in the “nation’s biggest commercial carrier enforcement blitz.” According to the WHP, the focus of the blitz will be checking on hours of service of truck drivers and lighting violations. The enforcement blitz will continue through Thursday.
