**** Partly sunny today with winds of 25 to 45 mph this afternoon and into the night. High today 44. Friday and Saturday will be partly sunny with winds expected between 15 to 30 mph. High’s near 50 to 53. Sunday will be breezy with a high of 55.
**** Today is Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all who serve and have served! Today in both Rock Springs and Green River, VFW members will be collecting donations while handing out poppies at both Smith locations.
**** A sign-up for the Rock Springs Fire Department’s Toys for Kids program will be taking place today. Sign-ups for the annual toy giveaway will take place at the Rock Springs Food Bank from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Anyone who needs assistance in ensuring that their children through 12 years of age get a Christmas gift is eligible to participate. Toys will be distributed in December.
**** Visitations at Yellowstone National Park slowed down in October. The park hosted 316,662 recreation visits in October which were down 12% from October 2020 the busiest October on record. So far in 2021, the park has hosted nearly 4.8 million visits, up 28% from the same period last year, and up 20% from 2019.
*** We are a little over three weeks away from the Lighted Holiday Parade through Downtown Rock Springs. This year’s parade will take place on Saturday, December 4. Businesses and individuals can sign up by contacting the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce. This year’s theme is “Good Ol’ Fashion Christmas”.
**** It was announced yesterday the annual Wine & Beer Tasting fundraising event for Kari’s Access will not be taking place this coming January. According to organizer Larry Fusselman, many of the vendors have notified him they would not be able to appear this year for various reasons. Proceeds from the event benefit students enrolled in Sweetwater School District #1 through an endowment fund.
**** The Wyoming Cowboy basketball team enjoyed a successful opening to the season with an impressive 85-47 win over Detroit Mercy last night in Laramie. The Cowboys return to action on Sunday afternoon hosting Arkansas- Pine Bluff.
**** Fresh off their Border War win over CSU, Cowboy football will travel to Boise State for a Friday night game. The broadcast time is 5:30 with the kickoff at 7 p.m. on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and at 99KSIT.com.
