Wyo4News Mid-Day Recap: November 5, 2021

November 5, 2021 — Here is a recap of today’s top Wyo4News stories.

**** We will be sunny today with winds at 10 to 20 mph during the day becoming light tonight. The high today will be 56 with a low tonight of 34. Saturday will be mostly sunny and warmer, with a high of 63. We will cool to 57 on Sunday with a slight chance of rain or possibly snow showers Sunday night into Monday morning. Monday’s high at 45.

**** Governor Mark Gordon has announced Thursday that Wyoming will join several other states in suing the Biden Administration today over vaccine mandates being imposed on employers with more than 100 employees. The Governor’s Office said the lawsuit will be filed as soon as the emergency temporary standard is issued by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration. That is expected to happen today.

**** Veteran’s Day is this coming Thursday, but the Tom Whitmore Post 28 5th Annual Veterans Freedom Run/Walk will be taking place tomorrow, Saturday. A 5K and a 10K run/walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the American Legion Post in Green River. Participants can register for the races online at RunnerCard.com through 9 tonight or can register tomorrow in person beginning at 9:00 a.m.

**** Remember, Daylight Savings Time comes to an end this Sunday. Sunday at 2 a.m. time will “fall back” one hour. Local firefighters also remind you clock changing time is also a good time to check, and if needed, change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

**** Area scores from yesterday’s state volleyball tournaments in Casper had Rock Springs losing 3-0 to Casper Kelly Walsh in the 4A Tournament. In the 3A tournament, Lyman defeated Douglas 3-0, and Mountain View was a 3-0 winner over Newcastle. Today Rock Springs takes on Cheyenne East in a loser-out match while Lyman plays Pinedale in one 3A semi-final match and Mountain View meets Lander in the other semi-final. Championship matches will be played Saturday.

**** It’s a big football day for both Rock Springs and Lyman. Both teams will be home in their respective semi-final football contests. Rock Springs will host Cheyenne East at 6 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. Lyman will battle Wheatland at 1 p.m. in the 2A semi-final game.

**** The 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships will wrap up this morning in Gillette. Green River is the defending 3A state champion. Top individual results for the Lady Wolves can be found at Wyo4News.com. Rock Springs will begin their 4A state meet, also in Gillette, later this afternoon.      

        

**** Wyoming Cowgirl basketball will play a second exhibition game this Friday evening against Colorado-Colorado Springs. Broadcast time will be at 6 p.m. with tip-off at 6:30 on WyoRadio’s 1360/103.5 KRKK and streamed at 1360KRKK.com.

**** The Wyoming Cowboys will be home this Saturday against Colorado State in the “Border War” game. Broadcast time is 12 noon with kickoff at 1:30 p.m. on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KIT.com.
