October 15, 2021 — Here is a recap of this morning’s Wyo4News stories.

**** We will be sunny today with winds at 15 to 25 mph. Winds will decrease tonight. High today at 43. Low tonight at 24.  Saturday will be sunny with light winds and a high of 52. Sunday will be sunny and with a high of 57. We could see some rain showers on Monday, with highs in the low 50s.

**** While the area’s early week snow helped, the National Weather Service in Riverton is saying that Sweetwater County’s and the state’s long-term drought conditions continue and most likely will do so through the winter. Most of Sweetwater County falls into the serve drought condition category, with portions of the extreme southern part of the county experiencing extreme drought conditions. **** If you are travel east on I80  today, expect some high winds in the Elk Mountain and Arlington areas today. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne states that a stretch of I80 could experience wind gusts to 70 mph today and tonight. A high blow-over risk warning has been issued for light/high profile vehicles.

**** Sweetwater County District Broad of Health yesterday reported that the county’s COVID test positive percentage dipped to 11.1% as of this past Wednesday. That is down from 12.1% from the prior week. The report shows the county’s active number of cases at 128, down from last week’s report of 155.

****  Grand Teton National Park statistics on recreation visits show that September 2021 was the second busiest on record for the month of September. The park hosted an estimated 570,584 recreation visits this September, a 10% increase from September 2019 and a 5.5% decrease from September 2020.

**** In area high school volleyball from Thursday, Riverton defeated Rock Springs 3-1, Evanston over Green River 3-0, Mountain View won 3-0 over Kemmerer, and Lyman was a 3-1 winner over Pinedale. Today, Pinedale will be at Mountain View, Kemmerer at Lyman.

In Friday night football, Rock Springs will host Cheyenne Central at 6 p.m., Green River is home against Cody at 6:30 p.m., and Mountain View is home against Thermopolis at 3 p.m. Farson-Eden will travel to Meeteetse on Saturday.

Green River, Lyman, and Mountain View will compete in the 3A West Regional cross country meet today in Riverton, while Rock Springs will be in Casper at the 4A West Regional meet.

Rock Springs and Green River girls swim teams are in Gillette today.

**** The Wyoming Cowboys will host Fresno State this Saturday. Broadcast time is at noon, with the kickoff at 1:30 on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KIT.com.
