August 19, 2021 — Here is a recap of today’s top Wyo4News local stories.

*** That chance of rain and snow will continue this morning. High today at 43. Low tonight at 28. On Wednesday we will warm up to a high of 51 and we could see the mid to upper 50s Thursday and Friday.

**** A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 p.m. for parts of Central Wyoming. Forecasters are calling for seven to 12 inches of snow over South Pass today. Heavy snow with accumulations of four to eight inches are expected in the Casper area with a possible 12 inches on snow on the south side of Casper. Traffic on I-25 in the Casper area could be difficult at time.

**** Both the Rock Springs and Green River City Councils will be in sessions tonight at their respective City Halls. Both meetings will begin at 7 p.m. One of the agenda items on the Rock Springs City Council agenda is a public hearing for a Food Truck Vendor Regulation Ordinance. The language of the ordinance will change from “transient merchants” to “mobile vendors.” The application process for a “mobile vendors” license will change. Statements from “mobile vendors” as well as brick-and-mortar restaurants. Both City Council agendas can be found at Wyo4News.com.

 **** Both the U.S. and State of Wyoming flags continue to be flown at half-staff in honor of the life and legacy of General Colin Powell. Powell, the county’s first Black Secretary of State in the Bush administration and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff passed away early Monday morning at Walter Reed Medical Center. He was 84. Flags should remain lowered until sunset this Friday.

**** COVID -related hospitalizations in the state remain high. According to the Wyoming Department of Health daily report on Monday, Wyoming has 219 COVID hospitalizations, 11 of those at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. Statewide hospitalization numbers have been over 200 since September 28.

**** The Wyoming Cowboys will be home again this Saturday hosting New Mexico. Broadcast time is at noon with the kickoff at 1:30 on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KIT.com.
