October 22, 2021 — Here is a recap of this morning’s top Wyo4News stories.
*** Sunny today with light winds increasing a bit this afternoon and tonight. High today at 62. Low tonight at 35. We could see some showers Saturday afternoon and possibly some snow showers late Saturday night. Saturday’s high will be near 50, with Sunday’s high at 52 with partly sunny skies. We do have a chance of some snow showers Monday morning.
**** Last night in area volleyball, Rock Springs defeated Green River in the annual “Dig Pink” match, and Mountain View was a 3-1 winner over Cokeville. Today, Green River travels to Star Valley, and Rock Springs will host Casper Natrona.
In area high school football from Thursday, it was Lyman defeating Mountain View 40-7 in the Bridger Valley Bowl. Today, Rock Springs will travel to Cheyenne East, and Green River will be home against Star Valley. On Saturday, Farson-Eden will play Little Snake River at home.
The Lady Tigers swim team will be in Evanston today and Saturday at the 4A West Conference Championships. Green River and Lyman will compete at the 3A West Conference meet in Pinedale.
**** Good news and bad news from yesterday’s local COVID report from the Sweetwater County District Board of Health. The good news is that active cases of COVID dropped to 128 for the week ending October 22, but the test positivity rate increased to 12.6% from the last reports, 11.1%. According to the Wyoming Department of Health daily report, Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County had nine COVID-related patients as of yesterday afternoon. Statewide hospitalizations were listed at 249.
**** Governor Mark Gordon has ordered both the United States and Wyoming State Flags be flown at half-staff statewide tomorrow in honor of Marine Corps Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum. The Teton County resident was killed in the terrorist attack on August 26, 2021, in Afghanistan. A public memorial service for McCollum will take place on Saturday afternoon at the Jackson Hole Hereford Ranch.
**** The Green River Police Department will be conducting a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday. Green River PD will have a drop location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Green River Smith’s location. Residents can safely dispose of unused or out prescription drugs and medications during the event.
**** The Wyoming Cowboys will be home Saturday hosting New Mexico. Broadcast time is at noon, with the kickoff at 1:30 on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KIT.com.
