
October 7, 2021 — Here is a recap of this morning’s top Wyo4News local stories.
**** Expect mostly sunny skies today with a slight chance of showers late this afternoon with a better chance of showers tonight. High today at 64. Low tonight at 41. Another chance of rain on Friday, Friday night, and Saturday. Friday’s high at 58. Saturday’s high at 53 with sunny conditions Sunday and a high of 55.
**** The Bureau of Land Management plans to start gathering just over 3,500 wild horses today. Those gatherings will take place in the Adobe Town, Salt Wells Creek, Great Divide Basin, White Mountain, and Little Colorado herd management areas. According to the BLM, the gathers are necessary to return the management areas to appropriate management levels. The entire wild horse gather process could take several months.
**** The Broadway Theater has announced the selling of season tickets for eight upcoming shows, which are scheduled from November 13 to April 22, 2022. Each general admission season ticket costs $120 and includes a one-year 2022 membership for the Friends of the Broadway. Tickets can be purchased at the Rock Springs URA office on South Main Street or online. We have a link at Wyo4News.com.
**** The Southwest Wyoming BMX will kick off their Winter Series this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Sweetwater Events Complex Indoor Arena. It is the first of six once-a-month events scheduled to take place. The public is welcome to attend with no admission charged, but there is a fee to race. Racing starts Friday evening around 6:30.
**** The Rock Springs Tigers are still ranked #1 in the most WyoPreps 4A football poll. The Tigers received 14 of the 18 first place votes from media members and coaches. Rock Springs will take on Cheyenne South tomorrow night at Tiger Stadium in their Homecoming game. Lyman is still #1 in the 2A poll. The Eagles travel to Encampment on Friday. Farson-Eden #5 in the 6-Man rankings and play at Dubois on Saturday.
In area high school volleyball today, Farson-Eden is at Cokeville.
**** The Rock Springs Parks & Recreation Advisory Board will hold a public workshop next Thursday, the 14th, where the public will have the opportunity to voice their views on possible fee increases. According to a post on the City of Rock Springs Facebook page, every two years, the advisory board looks at the current fees charged along with expenditures and anticipated budgets to decide if changes in fees charged need to be changed. Again, that public meeting will be held on Thursday, October 14, at Rock Springs City Hall Council Chambers beginning at 6:30 p.m.
**** The 4-0 Wyoming Cowboys open Mountain West Conference play this Saturday evening at Air Force (4-1). The game will be broadcast on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and at 99KIT.com beginning at 3:30 p.m. with the kick-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
