Local News:

**** Last month was the fourth wettest August in Rock Springs since weather records starting being kept back in 1948. According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Rock Springs received 1.67 inches of rain, a little over ½ inch over its normal average August rainfall. The average August daily temperature in Rock Springs was a little less the ½ degree below normal.

**** Those two GoFundMe pages to aid the family of fallen Wyoming Marine Rylee McCollum are nearing the $830,000 mark. One fund is for the education of his soon-to-be-born child; the other is designated for the McCollum family. McCollum was one of 13 service members killed at Kabul, Afghanistan airport,

**** The WYDOT will be hosting an open house today from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at their offices at 3200 Elk Street in Rock Springs. The open house will feature information on the State Transportation Improvement Plan, and on local projects. The WYDOT event is open to the public. 

**** Governor Mark Gordon will be in Rock Springs next Tuesday as the Colorado River Working Group will be holding its first meeting. The group will discuss important Colorado River matters and monitor potential impacts to Wyoming. The kickoff meeting will take place at Western Wyoming Community College. The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. The formation of the Working Group comes in response to continuing drought conditions in the Colorado, Green, and Little Snake River basins.

**** The Rock Springs Main Street Market will take place today from 4 to 7 p.m. on South Main Street. This will be the second to last market of the season.
 **** The Rock Springs Splash pads will close for the season this coming Tuesday, September 7.  Also remember, the Family Rec. Center gymnasium is closed for the month of September for maintenance. The pool remains open.   




Sports:

**** In local sports, the Rock Springs golf team will be at Riverton, and the Green River cross country teams will compete in Lander.

The Rock Springs Tigers moved up to number three this week in the 4A WyoPreps football pool. The Tigers will travel to top-rated Thunder Basin tomorrow. Mountain View is again number 2 in the 2A poll, with Lyman number four. Farson-Eden is ranked second in the 6-Man poll
