September 30, 2021 — Here is a recap of this morning’s top Wyo4News stories.

**** We will turn sunny today with a high of 59. Friday will be sunny and warmer with a high of 64. We should be in the mid to upper 60’s for the weekend.

**** Area Paint the Town Pink events begin today with the City of Green River Ribbon Ceremony and Proclamation at the Clock Tower Plaza. The event is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. The City of Rock Springs will also host a Ribbon Ceremony and Proclamation tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 at the Mayor’s Tree in Downtown Rock Springs.

Paint the Town Pink is an annual event for breast cancer awareness and is put on by Sweetwater Regional Cancer Center.

**** The Rock Springs Police Department is investigating several vandalisms to District #1 schools that have been directly related to recent TikTok challenges. According to a press release, the vandalism incited by the trend caused several thousands of dollars worth of damage to District #1 buildings. According to reports, the September TikTok challenge was to vandalized bathrooms and destroyed school property, with the upcoming October challenge being smacking a school staff member on the backside. According to the RSPD, these TikTok challenges have been set to last until June.

**** It was announced yesterday that the Sweetwater Events Complex will be the site of the Airstream Club International 2023 Rally. Over 1,800 people are expected to show up for the event in June 2023, with an estimated $1 million-plus economic impact on the immediate area. This marks only the second time the Airstream Rally will be held in Wyoming.

**** The Rock Springs Tigers football team is once again rated number one in the WyoPreps 4A football rating. Lyman is number one in the 2A rankings and Farson-Eden is number four in 6-Man.

**** The Wyoming Cowboy basketball team starts their practice sessions today. The Cowboy’s return nine lettermen and three starters from last year’s 14-11 team. The Cowboy basketball season starts November 10 against Detroit Mercy. The Wyoming Cowgirls started their basketball practices on Tuesday.

**** The annual Alzheimer’s Association “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” is coming up this Saturday. The event raises funds and awareness. The walk will begin and end at Bunning Park, with the walk start time at 10 a.m. Participants can register at the Alzheimer’s Association website. There will be a hamburger barbeque in Bunning Park shortly after the walk.

**** The Sweetwater County Clerk’s Office will be offering nighttime voter registrations next week for the upcoming November 2 special election. The first will occur next Tuesday, October 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Rock Springs City Hall. The second will occur on Wednesday, October 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Green River Courthouse. Person registering need a legal ID. The pre-election day voter registration closes at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 18, but residents can still register to vote on election day at the polls.

**** Sign-up continues today for ice-skating lessons at the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center. Registration will last until this Sunday, October 3, with classes starting Monday, October 4. Registration is on a fire-come, first-serve basis. Also, starting today, residents can sign up for the next session of swim lessons. These classes are free with a paid membership.

**** The 4-0 Wyoming Cowboys are idle this week. The Pokes will open Mountain West play on Saturday, October 9 at 5 p.m. at Air Force. Of course, that game will be broadcast on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and at 99KIT.com beginning at 3:30 p.m.  Â
