YWCA “Festival Of Trees” Event Raises Over $13,000

The YWCA of Sweetwater County celebrated another successful event last evening with their “Festival of Trees” event which took place at Commerce Bank of Wyoming.

The public was invited to annual event to kickoff the Christmas season. Residents were also invited to bid on trees and/or gift baskets. Included in the event was a live auction of the trees along with a silent auction, reception and a chance for attendees to vote for their favorite tree.

The People’s Choice Award went to TacoTime and RE/MAX Mountain Realty with their “Stairway to Christmas” tree. The winner was announced by a young boy named Matthew Johnson. Second place went to the Barnum Law Office with their “12 Deer of Christmas” tree. Third place went to Becky Iwen with her “Hedwig’s Theme” tree from Harry Potter. John Gibbens served as auctioneer again this year.

The event had 28 silent auction items and 17 big trees in the live auction. The event brought in $13,500, which was an increase from last year. All proceeds will go to YWCA programs including the Early Care and Learning Center, the Center for Families and Children, and the Financial Empowerment Program.
