Wyoming Volleyball Adds Transfer Kyra Slavik for 2019

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 10, 2019) – Wyoming head volleyball coach Chad Callihan announced the signing of setter Kyra Slavik from Ohio University on Thursday. Slavik is set to transfer for the beginning of the 2019 spring semester.

“We are excited to welcome Kyra to Wyoming,” Callihan said. “She has competed at a high level in club and has gained experience at the collegiate level. She’s a hard worker and a tenacious defender but we’re most excited about her competitive spirit.”

Slavik comes to Wyoming after appearing in nine matches her freshman season at Ohio in 2018. The Saint Charles, Ill., native compiled 136 assists on a 3.89 assists per set average to rank second on the Bobcat squad. She recorded a career-high 23 assists along with five digs against Drake. She also posted her first career double-double with 16 assists and 12 digs in the Bobcats’ win over IUPUI.

Prior to Ohio, Slavik was a three-year letter winner under coaches Jennifer Kull and Mark Wallin at Saint Charles East High School, where she was named to the Under Armour Players to Watch List as a junior and senior. As a senior in 2017, she switched to right side hitter due to team injuries and was named an All-Illinois selection on the way to leading her team to its first regional win since 2014 and an appearance in the sectional finals.

Slavik competed at the club level for Sports Performance volleyball club. She was named to PrepVolleyball.com’s 16 Open Star Search List and the 2016 JVA World Challenge 15 Open Dream Team.

Slavik will join fall 2018 signees Emersen Cyza, Erika Jones and Hailey Zuroske as a newcomer for the 2019 season.
