(Sweetwater County, Wyo. – August 17, 2018) The first day of school for K-12 students has come and gone for Sweetwater County School District #1 students and begins on Thursday, August 23rd, for Sweetwater County School District #2 students. Sheriff Mike Lowell is asking that drivers everywhere be alert for students on their way to and from their classes.

“There will be kids on foot and on bicycles, clustering around bus stops, and high school students in their own vehicles,” he said.  “The result will be an increase in traffic everywhere, especially around the hours that school starts and lets out.”

Law enforcement officers throughout the county ask that all drivers be particularly watchful now that school is back in session, and to observe all special speed limits in school zones.

“Be watchful and slow down,” Lowell said.  “That’s what it comes down to. Everyone wants their children to be safe.”
