Disaster Management Training Set

(Sweetwater County, Wyo. – July 26, 2018) The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, County Emergency Management, and the Green River Fire Department are co-sponsoring two days of Federal Emergency Management Agency training in Green River in August.

Sheriff Mike Lowell said the class, titled “MGT-343 Disaster Management for Water and Wastewater Utilities,” will take place at the Green River Fire Department August 9-10 at the Green River Fire Department.

Topics to be covered include threats to water and wastewater facilities and systems, disaster planning and management, disaster mitigation, disaster response, and disaster recovery.

Lowell said the training is geared toward, (among others), senior emergency response personnel, city and county officials, and water and wastewater utility personnel.

Among those already signed up are city officials from Rock Springs, Green River, and Evanston as well as representatives of local ambulance services and the Sweetwater County District Board of Health.

Several slots remain. The grant-funded training is free; instructors are provided by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.
