Friday Area High School Sports Report/Schedule

August 26, 2022 — The high school football season starts tonight in Wyoming. The Rock Springs Tigers will open their football season tonight on the road at Casper Kelly Walsh. All of the state’s 4A teams will be playing.

In local zero-week football games for other football classes, 3A Green River will host Uintah, Utah, tonight at 7 p.m., while 2 Lyman will travel to Malad, Idaho. 2A Mountain View will participate in a four-team scrimmage in Rawlins. None of tonight’s zero-week games will count toward conference or state-playoff records.

Area volleyball teams will see their first action of the season today. Rock Springs is at the multi-team Cheyenne Invitational. Today the Lady Tigers will play Laramie, Cheyenne East, and Campbell County. The tournament will run through Saturday. Meanwhile, Green River, Mountain View, and Lyman will compete at the Cokeville Invitational. Green River will take on Cokeville, Bear Lake, Idaho, and Mountain View today. Mountain View will also play against Grace, Idaho, and Bear Lake, Idaho. Lyman will take on Preston, Idaho, Grace, Idaho, and Evanston. The teams will also play matches on Saturday.

Green River will host a cross country meet this afternoon which includes Rock Springs.

In girls swimming, Green River is in Gillette today and Saturday, while Rock Springs and Lyman travel to Rawlins today and Saturday.

The Rock Springs and Green River tennis teams are home today against Natrona County and Casper Kelly Walsh, while Green River and Rock Springs golf teams wrap up play today in Evanston.
