Wyo4News Mid-Day Recap: November 16, 2021

November 16, 2021 — Here is a recap of this moring’s top local Wyo4News stories.

**** Yesterday, Rock Springs tied the official record for the warmest November 15 with a high of 62 degrees. While some area residents may have shown a higher temperature than 62, the official National Weather Service temperature is measured at the Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport. 

We will be much cooler today, with wind gusts to around 35 mph this afternoon. However, those winds will be calm a bit tonight and Wednesday. The high today will be 44, with a low tonight in the low to mid-teens, with Wednesday’s high only 31. We will warm to the lower 40s by Thursday and near 50 by Friday.

**** The Rock Springs and Green River City Councils will be in regular sessions tonight. In Rock Springs, the Council will hear a resolution on the revision to the Rock Springs Housing Authority’s flat rent schedule and have the third reading of the ordinance, “Permitting and Regulation of Mobile Vendors,” which will recognize the growing number of food trucks in the community.

At tonight’s Green River Council meeting, Mayor Peter Rust is expected to proclaim this week as National Apprenticeship Week and November 27 as Small Business Saturday. Both meeting start at 7 p.m. with complete agendas found at Wyo4News.com.

**** Governor Mark Gordon has released a balanced budget for the next two fiscal years. According to the Governor’s Office, his budget proposal calls for saving excess revenues to guard against future revenue challenges. He also notes that future revenues are forecast to decline because Wyoming’s energy industries continue to be targeted by the Biden Administration. The press release also stated the Governor’s proposal allows for some savings while maintaining funding for education and not enacting any further cuts. He will also release a proposal for how to spend American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars in mid-December. 

**** The Rock Springs High School Speech and Debate team is searching for judges for their upcoming Tiger Classic Tournament which takes place this Friday and Saturday. **** The Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies Pantry Truck will be in Rock Springs this Saturday for another food distribution. The event will get underway at 1 p.m. Saturday behind the Star Stadium Theater. Food will be distributed to anyone needing supplemental food assistance on a first-come-first-served basis until the truck is empty.  

**** The Wyoming Cowboy basketball team improved to 2-0 on the years with an 85-45 home win over Arkansas-Pine Bluffs Sunday. The Pokes travel to Washington Thursday night. Broadcast time is 8:30 with tipoff at 9 p.m. on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KSIT.com.
