Local News:

****  A Red Flag Warning for fire danger is in effect for Sweetwater County and the surrounding area today. Mostly sunny and hot today with a high of 96. Winds today could gust to near 30 mph this afternoon and evening near 40 mph on Friday. Friday’s high will be 93. Here is your seven-day local forecast.

 

**** Rocky Mountain Power has scheduled a day-long power outage for this Sunday,  July 11, for several areas of Green River. The power outages will run from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The planned outage is necessary to replace a temporary substation bus at the Bridger Pump Substation. Approximately 1,300 Green River customers will be affected. All affected customers should have been notified via call, text, or email.

**** Governor Mark Gordon has announced that Wyoming has been working to offer support to Texas and Arizona in efforts to secure the United States-Mexico border. In collaboration with the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security, the Governor has been in negotiations to deploy assets to assist states in addressing the border crisis. The Governor’s Office noted that Gordon has already offered aerial assets valued up to $250,000, but after further discussion, it was determined that these particular assets might not precisely match the needs of the requested border mission. The Governor is continuing to explore ways Wyoming can provide the assistance requested.

**** The Wyoming Department of Transportation and contract crews have closed the westbound on and off-ramps at the Baxter Interchange. This closure is scheduled to be in effect until July 14 for paving operations. During this time, those traveling from the airport back to Rock Springs will have to detour to Baxter Road and then to the Rock Springs belt loop. In addition, traffic traveling westbound to the airport or Middle Baxter Road will have to detour on exit 122 or travel to Rock Springs and circle back.

**** The Thursday night Rock Springs Main Street Market will have their first session today from 4 – 7 p.m. The market will run each Thursday night on South Main Street in Downtown Rock Springs through September.

**** Tonight’s free Concert at the Clock Tower in Green River will feature Micah Paisley. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

 

**** Coming up this Saturday, International Day will take place in Bunning Park. The event will kick off at 8 a.m. with the Kiwanis Club fundraising pancake breakfast. The entertainment will start up at 10 a.m. with a different act appearing each hour on the Bunning Park stage until 8 p.m. There is no charge to attend the event that also features many vendors.

**** Sheridan, Wyoming native and University of Wyoming sophomore golfer Kirby Coe-Kirkham won the U.S. Amateur Qualifier held at Jacoby Golf Course in Laramie on Monday, July 7. Coe-Kirkham can now play in the U.S. Amateur Championship in August in Pennsylvania. More information here.
